What workflow do I need to follow to track critical findings?

We have introduced a new workflow for clients to track critical findings. Request a Demo with the DocPanel team to learn how to use this feature. 

DocPanel has classified critical findings into 3 categories. Based on the severity of the case, the radiologist will select one of the following - 

1. Emergent Finding - this selection suggests that the patient should visit the ER immediately. 
2. Urgent Finding - this selection suggests that the referring provider needs to be notified. 

Once the selection has been made, they will select the type of finding before publishing the report.

This new feature requires the center to configure their Critical Findings settings, which can be accessed from the settings page. 

Step 1: Please add a critical finding contact to this section who can be contacted when a radiologist reports a critical finding. This information will be shared with the radiologist.

Step 2: Please include instructions for your radiologists to follow before they report a critical finding. Below is an example of instructions you could provide. It's important to save the changes so DocPanel can follow your workflow.

The custom instructions added in your settings page will populate for the radiologist before they report a critical finding. 

When a radiologist publishes a critical finding- the center, referring provider and critical finding contact will receive a notification. The case can be accessed from the Completed cases tab. 

The case will either have a red “Critical Finding” status tag or an orange “Critical Finding Pending” status tag. If the case has a red tag, it means that the referring physician or critical finding contact has been notified and no action is required from the center’s side. 

If the case has an orange tag, the center is required to resolve the issue as soon as possible. 

This can be done by clicking “Resolve Issue” in the actions dropdown. The action will display a pop-up requesting the center to add a message to the radiologist notifying them that the case has been resolved. 

Note: When a case has the “Critical Finding Pending” tag, the client will not be able to request a case addendum from the radiologist. The request can only be made once the case has been resolved.
